Tony King was one of the founder
members of the Club when it was formed in the spring of 1981 and held the
position of President in the Rotary Year 1986-1987. He served on all the main
service committees over the years until he was appointed Club Secretary in July
1994 and has served in that capacity ever since. He has now retired from work
having been employed in the Publicity and Tourism Department of Great Yarmouth
Borough Council for 45 years from January 1948 until July 1993. He was, in
fact, Chief Publicity and Tourism Officer for Great Yarmouth Borough Council for
14 years from 1979 until his retirement. He was awarded M.B.E. in the Queens
Birthday Honours in June 1994 for services to Tourism. He is married to
Margaret, who owns and runs a Ladies Fashion Shop in Great Yarmouth, they have
no children and live in nearby Caister-on-Sea. Email: Tony
