Kenneth
George Ward; Solicitor. Retired Chief Executive Officer of Great Yarmouth
Borough Council from 1974 -1992. Ex-member of the Great Yarmouth Round Table. Founder
Member of Great Yarmouth Rotary Club.
Presidential
Year.
Theme
of the Year: Friendship through Rotary.
A
closer relationship with the two other local clubs - "Great Yarmouth &
Gorleston"- close and consistent relationships between all members of the
Great Yarmouth Haven Rotary Club.
Becoming
the 14th President meant that nearly all the potential duties
followed an existing pattern – visits to other clubs and visits to District
Council – all the way to Bungay!!
In July, we enjoyed our annual cricket match – which had become a
fixture of our annual programme.
On the 9th, I met the RIBI President at a dinner jacket affair
at old Catton and in August we had a visit from the District Governor.
In September, we enjoyed our annual Pitch and Putt evening and Pool Party
at Potters and on 7th September, the Rotary Golf Tournament was held
at Caister, when I presented the prizes.
I enjoyed
the District Conference in October at Blackpool, in company with a few Club
members.
It
was then customary to organise one or two evenings when Club members took OAPs
to a supermarket for their Christmas Shopping, a tradition which still
continues.
My term ended in June 1995.
