The
sudden death of Geoff Drury, President for the 1988/89 Rotary year came as a
great shock to all club members.His
death came only a few months after handing over the Haven Club Presidency to
Alan Spinks and followed a collapse at his home.
He had also recently retired as Manager of the Market Place
National Westminster Bank and had just taken-up an appointment with Anglian
Television as a co-ordinator of their Telethon Charity effort.Geoff was a popular member of the Club and for many years was
its Treasurer.He carried out his
Presidential duties in his own quiet, unassuming way, but made the job very much
his own.
