On Friday 26^th June the Club held its Charter Anniversary Dinner at the Burlington Hotel Great Yarmouth.  President Robert Parker gave a humorous but factual address to those who attended the function.   The Rotarian of the Year was awarded to George Ermini for his outstanding hospitably in hosting some of the GSE Team from the Philippines earlier this year.  The club has on several occasions supported the children from Belarus who come to the UK for a short holiday each summer. The Charity which organises these trips is called the ‘Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline’ and their visit helps their immune system and at the same time they can experience the hospitality of staying with local families.   Some of the children visiting the Great Yarmouth are in remission from cancer so for this reason a Doctor will be accompanying the group.  The club did not hesitate in supporting this visit and made a donation of £260 to the treasurer of the local link and Rotarian Terry Ashbourne.   This was a truly memorable evening that highlights the true meaning of’ ‘Service Above Self’ within the spirit of the organisation.
