Haven hosts the GSE Team
from District 3800 Philippines.
On Saturday 2nd May 5 members
of the Group Study Exchange from Manila in the Philippines (team leader Ricardo
Angeles, Vina Villegas, Madelline Romero, Ferdinand Verayo and James Borbon)
spent a day on board Rotarian George Ermini’s boat ‘Moonlight Wave’. George was
assisted by other Club members namely President Robert Parker, Terry Ashbourne,
Robert Lovick and Mike Butcher. The trip started at Burgh Castle and slowly
made its way to Reedham Ferry for a most enjoyable lunch. During the afternoon
the journey took us into Breydon and then to Haddiscoe, which gave several
members of the group the opportunity to take the wheel and negotiate the gentle
bends of the broads. This trip gave all the team a chance to relax and take in
the unique scenery and wildlife prior to their departure back to Manila. After
the boat trip the group and their hosts had a social evening with Rotarian John
Burroughs at the Apollo Tavern in Great Yarmouth where they participated in a
game of darts and certainly had the edge on their hosts.
