The seven Haven Rotarians pictured, together
with President Robert's wife, recently joined with members of Great
Yarmouth Rotary Club for a visit to the European Parliament in Brussels.
This was a most enjoyable trip which was
blessed with fine, sunny weather during the three day's excursion. On
the actual day of the visit to the Parliament complex the whole group
were initially briefed on the work and role of the E.U. together with a
question and answer session with an M.E.P. from Poland, followed by
another from Sweden. The group were then taken to the public gallery of
the Parliamentary Chamber to listen to an ongoing debate. The day ended
with dinner in the Members Dining Room in the company of Robert Sturdy
M.E.P. from Suffolk, who took the opportunity to mingle and answer
further questions. Those from Haven are indebted to G.Y. Rtn. Gillian
Brown for having the idea and foresight to seek an invitation for this
visit, which took almost three years to come to fruition as only three
groups each year can be invited by an M.E.P.
