Banner Link to Coral Springs - Parkland Rotary Club
Here is a link to the Parkland Rotary Club site where our Club Banner has
been posted on their virtual wall.
The Parkland Club meets at The Coral Springs Marriott Hotel which is part of
The Heron bay complex which includes the Heron Bay Golf Club which has
hosted The Buick Open and is part of the PGA tour.
The club is small compared to ours (about 25 members) but they are active in
service in the the community issues and this week are building up to a major
project by collecting groceries in conjunjunction with a large supermarket
chain to give to deprived people at Thanksgiving Holiday next week.
They are also hosting 18 children this weekend from Bahamas attending an
Interact Conference in the area.
Needless to say they have made me very welcome at their breakfast meetings -
it means getting up at 6.15 am as they start the meeting at 7.30.

Haven Rotarian
meets Brazilian GSE Team
Whilst on holiday Rotarian Bob Price likes to keep up his attendances by visiting Rotary Clubs in the locations he visits. Over the years he has been made welcome at Clubs as far apart as Hong Kong and the USA. Whilst visiting the Rotary Club of Melbourne Beach in Florida for the second year running, Bob reports he was warmly welcomed by the members of the club and was pleasantly surprised just how many remembered him by name from his previous visit. At the regular breakfast meeting meeting on May 5th, Bob was introduced to the visiting GSE Team from Brazil who were attending the meeting. The team included 5 young Brazilian professionals (4 men and 1 lady) who explained the purpose of their visit and gave an overview of the great progress being made in Brazil. The team consisted of a Rotarian Team Leader,School Teacher, Local Government Social Worker, IT Designer and Physiotherapist. It was explained to Bob that most of the Brazilian people were in the process of learning English as they saw that to be the International method of communication and that professional people would share their work day between using their skills on a Pro Bono (free of charge) basis for the underprivileged and working for wages. ******************************************************************************* |
