               As last year and the previous year ,Eight members took part in Haven's own annual Club golf tournament today starting at 2.15pm at Caister and Great Yarmouth Golf Club. Those taking part were  Alan Carman, Alan Spinks,John Hovell, Wally Ladmore, Mike Self , Ian Tilley, John Clarke and new member Peter Gethin.

               The format was an 18 hole stableford on full handicaps.

               The conditions were almost ideal for golf with a light breeze and warm sunshine.

                After the golf, a special chicken and mushroom pie  meal was enjoyed by all, and the golfers were joined by Past President Ian for the meal .

                John Clarke was this years winner with runner up Ian Tilley. Last years winner Alan Carman had a poor day as did one or two of the others.

                 John Hovell won the longest drive on the 8th.  No one won the nearest the pin on the 14th (No one was on the green ! ), Alan Spinks was given " the organisers special prize" for his effort at NOT scoring on the 8th,9th and 10th holes !

Peter Gethin received the trophy for most likely to improve in the future and also due to the generosity of PP Ian Thomson who donated 18 golf balls as a prize in a raffle for all those taking part. 

                The putting competition always takes place after the meal, and the idea is NOT to win "the David Bluck Putter ". Alan Spinks determined not to have the putter for the third year running decided he would put first ! The first put went right in the middle! What a relief ! The other golfers had 3 puts and this year for the first time everybody managed to score. It was left for non golfer Ian to have a go and much relief to all the golfers he missed all 3 puts ! Ian was presented with the David Bluck Putter by Alan Carman, who was thanked for his organisation of the annual event.

                 A great fun day and evening and every member will look forward to the event next year sometime.
